The land of contrast! The Glen Canyon Recreation Area was a great stop after so many days on the road. This bare and extremely hot landscape hides a jewel - Powell Lake. The building of the Dam, that controls the Colorado River, created a lake just above it. But the surprise is not only the contrast in color - deep blue water and red sandstone rocks but also how with so much water there's still a lack of flora, giving an impression of mirage. Is there really a lake? The satisfaction of feeling fresh water on our hot skin is indescribable.
But this place also hides very different natural beauties: Horseshoe Bend, a meander of the Colorado River, and Antelope Canyon, hidden slots carved by water and floods.
